Interior Design Fair Wellington 2024

Join us at the Public Trust Hall for a day filled with creativity and inspiration. The Interior Design Fair is a free event for Interior Designers, Architects, and Specifiers where you are able to spend the day meeting a wide range of industry suppliers, explore new products, attend seminars, and network with other design lovers over a glass of wine and good food.

The IDF Wellington will run in two sessions, session 1 from 10am - 2pm, and session 2 from 4.30pm - 7pm. When registering for a ticket please select your preferred session.

The IDC has partnered with the best fabricators and experts to bring you a range of in-depth training sessions designed to enhance your professional development. Our sessions focus on production techniques and manufacturing processes including demonstrations by the fabricators, insights into design techniques, in-depth training on product and material specification, maintenance and care, and everything you need to know to communicate your designs to suppliers, manufacturers, and clients.

Furniture Design and Fabric Specification Training for Interior Designers

Date: August 17th, 2023

Time: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Location: David Shaw Showroom and Factory, 104 Antigua St, Addington

This professional development training is designed for interior designers who are interested in furniture design and fabric specification. You will learn about David Shaw's design process, material selection, different types of foam and cushion inners, construction techniques, and how they can customize David Shaw pieces for their clients. The training will also include a tour of the David Shaw factory and demonstrations by their makers. You will also learn about different upholstery fabrics, how to choose the right types of fabrics for different furniture designs, and the care and maintenance of soft and hard furniture. You will be provided with a training manual containing all the information covered during the day.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Evaluation and Feedback:

Curtain Making and Fabric Specification Training for Interior Designers

Date: June 16th, 2023

Time: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Location: The Makers Workroom, 60 Phillips St, Phillipstown Christchurch

This professional development training is designed for interior designers who want to expand their knowledge and skills in the curtain making process and fabric specification. You will learn about different curtain and blind making techniques, including various heading and pleat styles. You will also learn the properties of different fabric types, how they affect the making process and how to specify the right fabric and lining for the right job. The training will include a tour of the Makers Workroom and demonstrations by the makers themselves. Attendees will receive a manual containing all the information covered during the training.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided to attendees during the day.
